Living History and Reading about History, same? different? You can do both?
In this day and age of websites, twitter, facebook, google, snap chat, sniggity wack...? whatever, we forgot to pick up a freakin old fashioned book. I remember in school when we had to read book and wright a report. Now.. For Real, they are on Wikipedia, google, yahoo, facebook and they find truncated prose, others opinions, descriptions and even a youtube channel they may be dedicated towards it.
"So class..? What do we do"
"Heck, I dunno" Well not true.. totally just get em' young. Here are some things to do with a small one, the wee bits, those not tainted by the world so they grow with an appreciation for ye ol pen and ink, and make it just fodder for the fire:
1. Read to the Kids: Reading is fun, it can be super exciting and it will allow the imagination run wild. "Experts state that creativity is distinctive so although we fill that they don't have any imagination at all, Its there, but it needs some push, the door has to be opened, to let the purple horses and green foot beetle in.
2. Take them to Events: There are so many events this week the National Book Fest #Natbookfest
there are kids book events, at your local churches, daycares, schools and Libraries.

3. Libraries: Duh.. do have to say more.. really Library is cool, library is fun, library is for everyone.. Ha.. No for real go the library..
4. Purchase books: My first books, that were my favorites were Dr. Seuss and my Childrens Bible. They were great, liked the Dr. Seuss books betters, "Green eggs and ham". WIth my own kids, when they read their first book, it was great. Stars and ticker tape parade. I have to say I have some avid readers in the house, although they still remain glued to whatever device they have on their person.
5. Lastly: Lead by example: Pick up a book yourself and read to your children show them that's what you do in your spare time, and they will follow suit. "If mom and dad read, so will I" They do what we do, sometimes not what we say, but they will imitate a good habit and a bad habit.. Be the GOOD Habit, you cant google everything.. (well not evvverythang) Show them the fun, the love and he wonder for books you had as a kid and maybe we will have another generation of scholars and leaders.
